Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5 16V (W201)

Mercedes 190E 2.3-16, together with it’s more powerful brother (both nicknamed “Cosworth”) were the result of collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and famous, British engineering company. It was Cosworth that took the standard, 8-valve, 2.3 liter engine, modernized it and made it better. This platform became the base for the DTM race cars of the era.

In 1988 Mercedes created the 190 E 2.5-16 with it’s distinctive aerodynamic bodykit, lowered suspension and trademark wheels. Still, it is not the look, but the mechanical components of the car that makes it special. 16 valve 195 PS engine can bring the lightweight Baby-Benz up to speed of 235 kilometers per hour. The self leveling Nivo suspension was installed on the rear axle. Nowadays the car became a rare track-toy made in the number of 5743 units. It is a collectors special, not only for the Mercedes-Benz enthusiast.

European spec 190E 2,5 16V from it's first production year. Relased originally for the Spanish Market and painted in a classic, Blue-Black, Mercedes-Benz colour. This example is equipped with all of the trademark features of the 2,5 16V 190E, including the Automatic Locking Differential, "Dog-Leg", 5-speed manual gearbox produced by Getrag, semi-leather, checkered, front and rear seats that were redone as well as three aditional gauges - oil temperature, battery charge indicator and a stopwatch. All the equipment, including air conditioning, power windows and the afforementioned gauges are working. The differential was sealed. The car had it's engine redone. It's paint coat was refreshed and protected with a ceramic coat. Damage-free vehicle, no signs of rust. The underbody is still in great condition. This example is a perfect choice for one who is looking for a fully prepared and refreshed legend from the golden era of DTM racing. One additional stand-out feature of this car are the original, 16 inch AMG wheels dedicated for the 190E 3,2 AMG.
